A Journey into Analog Photography

Maestro William Arango and me.
Photo taken at Yurupari Academy by Valentín
In October 2025, I decided to embark on a personal challenge into analog photography. After working as a photographer for the past four years, I felt the need to explore the other half of photography, the one I had never truly encountered, perhaps because of the era in which I was born.

So, I started from scratch. Through books and videos, I began studying the chemical processes, materials, and tools required to build a darkroom where I could develop film and make prints.

But soon, I felt the need to find a mentor who could pass on his knowledge. That’s when I came across Professor William Arango Hurtado, founder of the analog photography course at Yuruparí in Medellín, Colombia, leading authority on the history of photography in Colombia and President of the Photography Club of Medellín, where I gave a conference presenting the work of two photographers I have had the honor of meeting: the Hungarian Máté Bence and the German Carlo Böttger.

Of all the places in the world I could have traveled to in search of this knowledge, Medellín and its people turned out to be the perfect choice.

During my stay, I met remarkable photographers, as well as Master William and a handful of his former students, who have since become great friends.

I spent enough time with them to bring back to Europe all the knowledge I had been seeking, with the goal of being able to set up my own darkroom wherever I go and continue learning.
Now, a new chapter of this journey into analog begins.

Projects

Here you will find some special projects that are part of my journey.

This is my story

It all started with my father’s camera. What began as simple Sunday mountain hikes soon became magical opportunities to capture breathtaking landscapes and candid moments. We would come home, create digital albums, and I found myself returning to those memories again and again.

Then came my first camera, a beginner Nikon gifted by my parents. That’s when I realized photography was only half the art. The other half was editing and color. I began studying color theory in the afternoons, often balancing it with my university coursework.

At university, I formally studied photography, film, and graphic design, while exploring the vibrant streets of Madrid through my lens and the snowy landscapes of Finland. My internship as a graphic designer at Fnac Madrid gave me invaluable hands-on experience. Later that summer, I traveled to Switzerland to photograph a special summer camp in Crans-Montana. When the opportunity arose to stay, I embraced it wholeheartedly.

Today, I am the Visual Media Coordinator at Le Régent International School, where I continue to learn, grow, and collaborate with incredibly talented people, doing what I love most: photography and design. Over the years, I have photographed countless individuals and participated in a wide variety of projects. Through it all, I have discovered my true passion: documenting people's stories through photo and video. Every face tells a unique story, and sometimes, with the right light and a touch of serendipity, a single glance can speak volumes.

This website offers a glimpse into who I am and showcases the stories I have been privileged to tell through my work.
